The Parco delle Incisioni Rupestri di Grosio e Grosotto is embedded in a stunning cultural and natural landscape: the Castle Hill with the Rupe Magna is dominated by majestic chestnut trees, which for centuries have shaped large parts of the Valtellina landscape. The chestnut groves were a fundamental part in the quotidian rural life of the local population.

In addition to the chestnut groves you can also observe in the vicinity of the Park the flora and fauna of a Termophilous Wood and a Riverbank Wood. In the area of the Rupe Magna and on its rocky surface, the presence of plant species can be observed, which can survive in shallow soils and a very hot and dry climate: small cracks and holes in the rock host mosses and lichens (very harmful for the preservation of Petroglyphs of the Rupe Magna). Furthermore, there are different types of grasses and bushes to find.
